  1. Visit the Income Tax e-filing website –www.incometax.gov.in
  2. Click on the “Link Aadhaar” option available under the “Quick Links” section on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar numbers in the respective fields.
  4. Enter your name as per the Aadhaar card, and the Captcha code as shown on the screen.
  5. Click on the “Link Aadhaar” button.
  6. The website will verify the details entered by you with UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) and if the details match, the linking process will be successful.
  7. You will receive a message on your registered mobile number and email address confirming the status of your Aadhaar-PAN linking.

If your Aadhaar-PAN linking is already done, you will receive a message saying “Your PAN is already linked to Aadhaar number XXXX XXXX XXXX.” If there is any issue with your linking, the website will display an error message.

Note that it is mandatory to link your Aadhaar with PAN to file your income tax returns.

How to check aadhar card link with pan card

To check the Aadhaar-PAN link status, you can follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to the Income Tax Department’s e-filing website – www.incometax.gov.in
  2. Click on the “Link Aadhaar” option available under the “Quick Links” section on the left side of the home page.
  3. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number in the respective fields.
  4. Fill in the Captcha code as displayed on the screen.
  5. Click on the “View Link Aadhaar Status” button.
  6. The website will display the status of your Aadhaar-PAN linking.

If your Aadhaar card is linked with your PAN card, the website will show a message saying, “Your PAN is linked to Aadhaar number [your Aadhaar number].”

If the linking has not been done yet, you will receive a message saying, “There is no PAN-Aadhaar linking.”


If there is an error in the information entered or any other issue,with the linking process, the website will show an error message, and you will have to check and correct the details and retry the linking process.
